Caitlin Clark returned to the court Wednesday looking to send the Indiana Fever into the All-Star break with another win over the Connecticut Sun. The All-Star wasted no time making her presence felt and helped Indiana build an early lead.
Clark scored 11 points and dished out three assists in the opening quarter. She also caught fire from round the arc, converting her first five three-point attempts on the night.
Clark was bound for a flawless performance and continued her scoring dominance, finishing the first half with 21 points and seven assists as the Fever established a 70-46 lead at halftime.
However, the Fever guard found herself at the center of another on-court incident. With 28.9 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Clark was fouled by Connecticut rookie Saniya Rivers, with the officials correctly whistling a personal foul. Clark immediately threw the ball away in frustration before exchanging words with Rivers.
Players from both teams, along with the officials, quickly stepped in to diffuse the situation, and both Clark and Rivers were assessed double technical fouls.
The technical was Clark’s seventh of the 2026 season, moving her just one technical foul away from an automatic one-game suspension under WNBA rules.
The league’s 2026 rules impose escalating penalties for technical fouls. Players are fined $500 for each of their first three technical fouls, $1,000 for technical fouls four through seven, and $1,500 beginning with the eighth.
Reaching eight technical fouls also triggers an automatic one-game suspension, with another automatic suspension issued after every additional two technical fouls. The Fever will have an opportunity to appeal the technical foul after the game, but the league office has the authority to review and rescind the referee’s decision.
Despite the blemish, Clark had herself a night to remember. She finished with 27 points and 11 assists as the Fever secured a 123-88 victory over Connecticut. Indiana has now won three straight games, improved to 17-10 and sit fifth in the WNBA standings.
