With one son serving time in prison for charges related to child pornography and another awaiting trial after being accused of molesting a 9 year old girl, it’s no wonder if people are starting to wonder what’s really going on in the Duggar house.
That includes Jim Bob‘s sister, Deanna, who went on a podcast this week and said that the entire family needs to be “checked out,” including her brother.
Deanna opened up about the family’s most recent scandal.
This week, Deanna joined daughter Amy Duggar on The Sarah Fraser Show to discuss Joseph Duggar’s unexpected arrest and molestation accusations, years after Josh Duggar began serving time for possessing and receiving child sexual assault material (CSAM). It sounds like Deanna wouldn’t be surprised at all if yet another scandal involving the family broke — even if it was about Jim Bob or his wife, Michelle.
“In my opinion, I do believe that they should be investigated, just because of everything that has happened,” Deanna said. “Everybody should be checked out in that family.”
Amy seemed to agree with her on that point, adding, “It stems from somewhere.”
She also believes the Duggars belong in therapy.
After Deanna said that she believes Jim Bob and Michelle’s kids “should be in therapy,” Amy said that she feels like her cousins have probably “suppressed a whole lot” when it comes to what their family has experienced over the years.
“I don’t understand how someone becomes a monster overnight,” Amy said, talking about Josh and Joseph. “It blows my mind when I hear about these double lives and how quickly they can make a decision that’s so heartbreaking.”
Each time, it seemed like the whole family was shocked to find out what their brothers had done, but who knows what other skeletons might be in their closets?
Jim Bob tried to reconcile with Deanna last year.
Deanna and Amy have both put some distance between themselves and Jim Bob’s family, and while Amy said that since their family still believes “in IBLP and you don’t protect children,” they cannot be in her life, her mom might be a bit more open to communicating with her brother again.
But it’ll have to be on Deanna’s terms if it happens — and with plenty of “boundaries” in place. On the podcast, she revealed that Jim Bob tried to make nice when they saw each other at their uncle’s funeral last year, and she shut it down pretty quickly.
“I said, “It’s not the time or place to talk right now,'” Deanna said.
There’s probably a pretty good chance that Jim Bob isn’t going to attempt a reconciliation with either of them again after this podcast appearance, but who knows? In this family, stranger things happen all the time.
