All-Pro wide receiver linked to Steelers ahead of training camp

The Pittsburgh Steelers have already greatly improved their offense over the past several months, including through the acquisitions of Rico Dowdle, Michael Pittman Jr., and rookie Germie Bernard. But the Steelers have just been linked to another high-profile free agent less than a week away from training camp.

Bleacher Report recently compiled a list of the best NFL free agents ahead of the 2026 preseason. When it came to former First-Team All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel, the Steelers were listed as a top fit alongside the Atlanta Falcons.

“Wide receiver Deebo Samuel has recorded just one season of 1,000 or more receiving yards during his NFL career. However, his ability to contribute as both a receiver and a runner has allowed him to top 800 scrimmage yards in six of his seven campaigns,” Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox wrote. “…Though he’s never been a true No. 1 receiver, Samuel has been consistently productive when healthy. Even at 30, he can still be a quality contributor as a receiver and change-of-pace backfield option.”

Samuel, drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, has recorded 6,737 yards from scrimmage and 48 total touchdowns during his first seven years in the league. At 30 years old, he’d still be an excellent WR3 candidate for Pittsburgh, offering the Aaron Rodgers-led offense a playmaker who is capable of making plays out wide, in the slot, or even as a running back.
