A governor's race and U.S. House race are inextricably linked in Arizona this year.
When U.S. Rep. David Schweikert retired from Congress to run for governor, it opened up a spot in the state's first congressional district. That opened the field for former NFL player and President Donald Trump-backed candidate Jay Feely to win the GOP nomination for that seat in Arizona's July 21 primary. But Schweikert didn't score; He lost to U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs, who also won on a pro-Trump platform.
And if the GOP wants to hold its slim House majority, that means defending many battleground seats while three in Arizona are targeted by Democrats.

Here are the results of Arizona's primary, according to the Associated Press and CNN.
Arizona House primary results
Voters across all nine of Arizona's congressional districts selected candidates for the November election. Here are the district-by-district results.
District 1
- Republican: Jay Feely (49.7% of votes) defeated Joseph Chaplik (35.3% of votes) with an estimated 76% of votes counted.
- Democrat: This race has not yet been called. Amish Shah (41.6% of votes) leads Marlene Galan-Woods (32.7% of votes) with an estimated 77% of votes counted.
District 2
- Republican: Incumbent Rep. Eli Crane won the race uncontested.
- Democrat: Jonathan Nez won the race uncontested.
District 3
- Republican: Nicholas Glenn, a write-in, won the race uncontested.
- Democrat: Incumbent Rep. Yassamin Ansari won the race uncontested.
District 4
- Republican: Zuhdi Jasser won the race uncontested.
- Democratic: Incumbent Rep. Greg Stanton (66.6% of votes) defeated Kai Newkirk (33.4% of votes) with an estimated 77% of votes counted.
District 5
- Republican: Mark Lamb (59% of votes) defeated Daniel Keenan (41% of votes) with an estimated 74% of votes counted.
- Democratic: Elizabeth Lee (64.7% of votes) defeated Chris James (22% of votes) with an estimated 76% of votes counted.
District 6
- Republican: Incumbent Rep. Juan Ciscomani won the race uncontested.
- Democratic: JoAnna Mendoza won the race uncontested.
District 7
- Republican: Daniel Francis Butierez won the race uncontested.
- Democratic: Incumbent Rep. Adelita Grijalva won the race uncontested.
District 8
- Republican: Incumbent Rep. Abe Hamadeh won the race uncontested.
- Democratic: Bernadette Greene-Placentia (64.8% of votes) defeated Ray Keeler (35.2% of votes) with an estimated 75% of votes counted.
District 9
- Republican: Incumbent Rep. Paul Gosar won the race uncontested.
- Democratic: Dani Sterbinksy won the race uncontested.
Arizona governor primary results
- Republican: Andy Biggs (72.7% of votes) defeated David Schweikert (15% of votes) with an estimated 77% of votes counted.
- Democratic: Incumbent Gov. Katie Hobbs won the race uncontested.
