Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson made sure that her first time playing in Toronto was a memorable one.
Wilson spearheaded the Aces to the win against the Toronto Tempo, 109-83, at Coca-Cola Coliseum on Monday, tallying a game-high 26 points on 11-of-14 shooting. She added team-highs of six rebounds and four blocks, plus four assists.
Las Vegas improved to 18-7, including 11-2 on the road, while Toronto fell to 10-16, suffering its third straight loss.

The 29-year-old Wilson, who was recently named Female Athlete of the Year at the ESPYs, gushed about the warm reception she received in Toronto.
“Incredible. I’m not even gonna lie. It kind of stunned me a little bit, just the love that I received. People have my shoes. People have my jerseys. They were screaming my name,” said the four-time MVP in the postgame conference.
“This is just the beginning for Toronto when it comes to the women’s game, and so to see the support they’ve put into the Tempo, it’s been incredible to watch. I was kind of shocked by it, honestly.”
She added that it was encouraging to see and that it was about time that the WNBA expanded in Toronto. The Tempo are doing well in their debut season, with Marina Mabrey being named to the All-Star Game.
Wilson got plenty of support against the Tempo, with Jackie Young adding 24 points, four rebounds, and 12 assists and NaLyssa Smith chipping in 18 points and five rebounds. Chelsea Gray contributed 14 points, four rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.
Wilson is widely considered the face of the WNBA, and with the way she was graciously welcomed by opposing fans in Toronto, the tag has become even harder to argue.
