Zendaya has left her goddess method dressing era behind as she trades out her Odyssey press circuit for Spider Man: Brand New Day—and true to form, the actress and her longtime stylist Law Roach are keeping fans on their toes with a bold beauty and fashion about-face. Case in point: Zendaya embraced a polarizing hair chameleon moment for a Spider-Man: Brand New Day fan event in Mexico City on July 20.
While posing with husband Tom Holland at Aztlan Feria de Chapultepec, the Euphoria star ditched her long Athena-esque curls for a voluminous updo that looked straight out of the 1960s. Zendaya leaned into a sculptural beauty moment with her towering beehive updo, which was teased to high heavens at the crown.
In contrast, her new blunt bangs veered into “less is more” territory, thanks to a divisive micro fringe that hit several inches above her eyebrows and sloped down each side of her face. A pair of sparkly black spider-inspired earrings could be sparkling at her earlobes.
Zendaya also swapped out the iridescent, barely-there makeup look from her Odyssey red carpet appearances, making a bold statement with black winged eyeliner, faux lashes, and smoky eyeshadow. She finished off her beauty look with sculpted cheekbones and a matte mauve lipstick.
Zendaya looked like she was ready to spin her own web with her vampy black turtleneck dress, which featured an asymmetrical optical illusion detail. Half of her form-fitting gown was crafted from a black silk material, while the other half was made out of sheer black lace featuring a subtle shimmering sheen. Extra-long black fringe cascaded off the back of her bodice and her long sleeves, putting an arachnid-approved twist on the 1920s trend.
Meanwhile, Holland looked dapper while subtly coordinating with his wife, whom he also co-stars with in The Odyssey. The British star paired a crisp white dress shirt with a double-breasted black blazer jacket, black slacks, and black leather dress shoes. A white spider pendant decorated his black tie.
