The 1975 frontman, 37, proposed to Bechtel, 28, in 2024. She revealed the engagement news on her Instagram Stories in June of that year, writing over a photo of her new black diamond ring, “MARRYING THE 1975 IS VERY BRAT” (per People).
Later that month, Healy’s mother Denise Welch shared on the talk show Loose Women, “I obviously have known for a few weeks that Matty got engaged. They went over to see their friends Charli [xcx] and George [Daniel] in New York and I woke up this morning to the fact they’ve put it on Instagram. Instagram official! He’s got engaged to Gabriella Bechtel—Gabbriette she’s known as…I couldn’t be more thrilled.”

Gabbriette’s ring is glittering in diamonds, but the star jewel is the onyx-hued black diamond at its center. U.K. jeweler Steven Stone’s managing director, Zack Stone, told Page Six at the time of the engagement that it looked to be a cushion-cut 5-carat diamond. He said it was worth approximately “$15,000,” as black diamonds are rare but not especially high in price.
The stone is halo-set on a pavé band—jewelry lingo for having a ring of small white diamonds encircling the stone and covering the band. Gabbriette’s engagement ring band is a triple split shank, separating into three lines for a delicate look.
She’s not the first celeb with a fabulously emo sparkler. Megan Fox’s engagement ring from ex-fiancé Machine Gun Kelly was covered in thorns that made it painful to remove. Her proposal piece featured a colored stone, too: a green emerald paired with a classic white diamond.

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker created the ring herself, working with costume designer Patricia Field and jewelry designer Itay Malkin, per People.
It’s unclear if there was a connection between that ring and the one Gabbriette now sports as Mrs. Healy. The rockstar’s mom did share on Loose Women that the ring was “made for her,” suggesting it’s a custom piece.

In a bridal campaign for Jimmy Choo, Gabbriette broke down her seven ‘Rules of Engagement’ for modern brides like herself. A video for the campaign shows her modeling the 2026 Bridal Collection while dropping pearls of wisdom like, “Your ring should blind, and if it doesn’t, upgrade.” Toward the end of the video, she jokes, “Remember, this is about love.
