WWE RAW RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR JULY 20
You’ve got the gift of gab, you think you got me all locked up, trapped in a meager world of fake silence. You think you’re not alone, you say it’s only in my head, but no, I’m here to liveblog this pro wrestling show for you, folks.
The show opens with a recap of Saturday Night’s Main Event.
The usual montage of talent arriving at the arena follows.
Je’Von Evans, who is not Seth Rollins, makes his entrance for our opening match and makes a liar of me for trusting Adam Pearce at his word that Seth would open the show and building my header around it.
I bet he’s mad I stopped doing the “five-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion” bit for him.
Dragon Lee makes his entrance and then so does the Vision, setting the stage to getting us going… AND EVANS AND LEE DIVE ON THE VISION TO DO JUST THAT!
Dragon Lee & Je’Von Evans vs. the Vision (Austin Theory & Bron Breakker)
Things quickly settle down, Lee doing a bit of light lucha libre to Theory, tag to Evans, then he gets cut off and the Vision double-team him and a legal Breakker starts the heat segment. Dragon tags in, big satellite DDT for two! Logan Paul runs interference on the apron, Lee keeps his eye on the prize and knocks Austin off the apron, comes off the top and Bron counters the dive with a spinebuster that sends us to break!
Back from commercial, Lee sidesteps a charge and puts Breakker shoulder-first into the post! Passing Theory to the floor as well, tag to Evans, he comes in hot with strikes, enzuigiri in the corner to Austin, ducking and dodging, Stunner connects! Je’Von dives on Theory and tells the camera the Young OG is here!
He sidesteps Bron into the timekeeper’s area, skips over and past Logan Paul, full circuit… BIG DIVE OVER THE TIMEKEEPER’S BARRICADE WIPES BREAKKER OUT! Back inside, springboard crossbody takes Austin down, cover… NO DEAL! Getting Theory in the Tree of Woe, tag to Lee, Tree of Woe double stomp connects!
Paul checking on his buddy, distracting referee Jessika Carr so that Maxxine Dupri and Bron Breakker can trip Dragon up on the apron, brainbuster from Theory… EVANS BREAKS IT UP! Bron spears Je’Von, tags in, Austin hooks Lee, Breakker off the ropes, head of steam…
The Vision win by pinfall with a spear from Bron Breakker on Dragon Lee.
Post-match, the Vision beat attack the babyfaces… AND ALPHA ACADEMY MAKE THE SAVE! Otis Dozovic and Akira Tozawa lay Theory out, Tozawa dives on Breakker, and Dozer lands a World’s Strongest Slam on Austin! Maxxine comes in the ring and slaps Otis but he shrugs it off! Clobbering Bron when he tries a sneak attack, stack the Vision up, crotch chop into a Stinger Splash!
Clothesline sends Theory to the floor, the Alphas clear the announce desk… BUT BREAKKER COMES AROUND THE WAY AND SPEARS DOZOVIC! Theory takes Tozawa in the ring and lays him out with a ripcord elbow! Otis crawls into the ring to save his pal while Austin and Bron taunt him and Dupri heads up top.
Theory grabs Otis and tells Bron to Breakk him, off the ropes and he lays the big man out with a vicious spear!
We get Fanatics Fest footage of Tom Brady getting into it with Logan Paul.
Backstage, Judgment Day are threatening Danhausen over their money. Dominik Mysterio threatens to break his jaw and Danhausen says he’s gonna go find it. As he leaves, Liv Morgan spits at him, which isn’t very ladylike of her.
We get a “Big” Colin Cassady video package that’s more explicit this time, highlighting his personal issues that ended his last WWE run and talking about how you don’t know how far you can fall until you reach your highest. Again the video says he’ll be back on August 3.
And so we go to break.
Back from commercial, we get a recap of the Danhausen parade from Saturday and of Danhausen beating JD McDonagh at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Danhausen makes his entrance on foot, holding an old-fashioned doctor’s bag that is presumably full of JD’s human monies.
He greets Detroithausen and introduces himself, saying he thought he took care of Judgment Day at Saturday Night’s Main Event, however they still want their human monies back and that’s causing him quite a problem. He doesn’t want the money and he doesn’t want Judgment Day to have it, so let’s give it to the fanhausens!
He asks the fanhausens who wants human monies and gets a predictably enthusiastic response–
Enter Judgment Day, comprising Dominik Mysterio, Liv Morgan, and JD McDonagh.
They are also predictably furious and demand their money back. He curses the three of them and makes a break for it but they grab him and the lads put boots to him while Liv talks trash and gets a few slaps in!
JOE HENDRY MAKES THE SAVE!
He sends JD to the floor, scoops Dom up and lands a fallaway slam on him, and Morgan grabs the bag of monies and runs!
Judgment Day beat a hasty retreat up the ramp clutching the bag of monies while Hendry helps Danhausen to his feethausen.
Another one of those “history of the rivalry between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns” videos follows, beginning with Seth’s WrestleMania cash-in on Roman.
Backstage, Judgment Day celebrate in front of general manager Adam Pearce.
Pearce says he’s sick of it and Danhausen and Joe Hendry roll up.
Adam tells JD to just take his money and be done with it, but McDonagh opens the bag to find it’s full of Danhausenbucks.
The camera pans to Oba Femi as JD throws the bag in his face. Oba asks if that’s his and McDonagh says it’s Danhausen’s.
They bicker, Pearce books McDonagh vs. Femi right now, and then when Judgment Day complain it’s unfair, he agrees and books Dominik Mysterio vs. Joe Hendry for later tonight.
Oba Femi makes his entrance ahead of our next match and sends us to break.
Back from commercial, general manager Adam Pearce herds JD McDonagh into the ring to take his medicine.
Joe Hendry and Danhausen come out and throw Judgment Day into the ring! Oba wipes JD out and launches Dom over the ropes and we get a bell!
JD McDonagh vs. Oba Femi
Femi shrugs off a chop, big back body drop, running uppercuts in the corner, again and again, hitting the ropes with incredible velocity! The huge tossing powerbomb follows, fired up, hoisting JD up…
Oba Femi wins by pinfall with Fall From Grace.
Post-match, Oba talks into the camera and says no more BS, the money is at SummerSlam in Hell in a Cell and he’ll see Brock Lesnar there.
We see LA Knight and Royce Keys chatting backstage and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Solo Sikoa gets in the ring and on the mic.
He says he’s not even supposed to be here today but he has a proposition to make, and he tells Seth Rollins to get out here now.
Enter Seth Rollins, obligingly enough.
Rollins gets in Sikoa’s face and says since he doesn’t go here, he’ll welcome him to Monday Night Rollins. Now, since he’s on his show, what can Seth do for him? He asks if we’re talking or fighting and Solo gets a pained look as the crowd chants “Fight!” but then Sikoa says he’s here to talk, not to fight.
He asks Rollins to hear him out– he knows he’s focused on getting ready for Roman Reigns at SummerSlam, but Seth has to understand it’s not one-on-one, it’s Rollins vs. the whole damn Bloodline, four against one, and Solo knows what they’re gonna do because he was a part of it.
They’re going to make sure Seth doesn’t have a chance at SummerSlam, but it doesn’t have to be like that. Sikoa says he called Rollins out here to offer to watch his back at SummerSlam. Seth admits he makes a lot of good points– he’s right about Roman and the Bloodline and that maybe working together could mean doing something special.
He tells Solo he wants to think about it and goes to walk away, but Sikoa rushes after him and grabs him and turns him around. Solo says there’s nothing to think about, it’s written on the walls, and he’s just asking to do for Seth the same thing he did for Cody Rhodes a few years back.
Enter “Samoan Werewolf” Jacob Fatu.
He chases Solo Sikoa off and Rollins takes advantage of his focus and lays him out with a superkick before taking his leave!
We get footage of Chad Gable and Penta el Zero M cutting “no I’m gonna win” promos on each other at the SummerSlam Kickoff yesterday.
“All Ego” Ethan Page and Rusev make their entrance together to send us to break.
Back from commercial, Rusev yells into the camera about how he’s gonna crush Chad Gable and Penta el Zero M, who make their entrances to get us going.
Chad Gable & Penta el Zero M vs. “All Ego” Ethan Page & Rusev
Rusev hot out the gates, putting boots to Penta, Page joins the fray, Zero gets away and tags Gable in to clean house! The Redeemer counters a flip piledriver with a back body drop on the apron, throws Penta into the steel steps, and sends us to break!
Back from commercial, Zero manages to lay Rusev out, tags made and Gable comes in hot with strikes! Rolling German suplexes on Ethan, ducking the Redeemer and hitting a belly-to-belly suplex, another German suplex on Page! Olympic Slam follows, cover… NO DEAL! Nobody home on a moonsault, float over, Rusev tags in, heels teeing off on Chad, Bossman Slam… PENTA BREAKS IT UP!
Zero throws All Ego to the floor… TOPE CON GIRO! Rusev and Gable trading right hands, the Bulgarian Brute takes him down and puts him in the Accolade! The Olympian fights to his feet, a headbutt knocks him back down! Rusev with a kick to the back, throwing Gable into Penta, Chad reverses the Accolade into an ankle lock in the middle of the ring!
Penta runs in and takes Page out with a flip piledriver, Gable falls back and grapevines…
Chad Gable & Penta el Zero M win by submission with a grapevined ankle lock from Gable on Rusev.
Another Rollins/Reigns historical video package follows, this one about Money in the Bank 2016 and very carefully refusing to mention Jon Moxley cashing the briefcase in on Rollins after he beat Reigns for it.
Seth Rollins confronts Jacob Fatu backstage, asking if he gets his services as bag boy when he beats Roman, and Jacob responds defiantly to send us to break.
Back from commercial, we get a Paul Heyman video package where he talks about the danger of Hell in a Cell and that Oba Femi is Oba-rated and also Brock is undefeated in Hell in a Cell.
A hype reel for SummerSlam follows.
Then we get another historical video package, this one about the reunion of the Shield, with both Seth and Roman saying it shouldn’t have happened.
Dominik Mysterio makes his entrance, accompanied by Liv Morgan, sending us to break ahead of our next match.
Back from commercial we get a recap of GUNTHER vs. Nick Aldis getting booked for SummerSlam.
Joe Hendry makes his entrance to get us going snap zoom turn smile.
Dominik Mysterio vs. Joe Hendry
Mysterio takes Hendry right into the corner, shoulder thrusts, putting boots to him, Joe turns him around and puts boots to Dominik, drawing him up to his full height in the corner, whip across hard into the turnbuckles! Delayed vertical suplex, marching around the ring before bringing Mysterio to ground!
Right hands into the ropes, whip across, Dom gets a boot up, passes him to the floor, off the ropes… HENDRY CATCHES THE DIVE AND HOSSES HIM UP AND TOSSES HIM INTO THE ANNOUNCE DESK! Throwing Mysterio back inside, Liv Morgan rushes Joe and throws him into the post!
Danhausen is here and he marches to Liv and gets in her face! He tries to curse her but she cold cocks him before he can finish and he goes running up the ramphausen to send us to break!
Back from commercial, Mysterio is in control and we… go back to break briefly. Back from being back from commercial, reverse chinlock in on Hendry and we get a replay of Morgan sending Danhausen packing. Joe counters the chinlock with a vertical suplex, blocking punches and throwing his own, whip across, fallaway slam to a kip-up snap zoom turn grimace discus lariat… DOMINIK KICKS OUT!
Liv runs interference enough for Mysterio to snap off a tornado DDT and both men are down and out!
DANHAUSEN IS BACK IN THE DANHAUSENMOBILE AND HE BROUGHT IYO SKY WITH HIM! She rushes down and brawls with Liv! Big Shotei connects and then she puts Morgan into the apron before throwing her inside… SPRINGBOARD MISSILE DROPKICK AND IYO KIPS UP AND GETS FIRED UP BETWEEN OUR TWO ACTUAL COMPETITORS IN THIS MATCH!
SKY dives on Liv, referee Danilo Anfibio distracted and Danhausen slides in for the Danhausen Death Drop…
Joe Hendry wins by pinfall with a lateral press.
Post-match, Danhausen waves his arm from side to side with Hendry snap zoom turn smile in stereo.
LA Knight is shown walking backstage to send us to break.
