Marvel's Kevin Feige debunks a major Avengers: Secret Wars theory. Avengers: Doomsday trailer started hyping fans for future Marvel projects. One of these projects is Secret Wars, with speculation that the movie will be split into two.
Will Avengers: Secret Wars be split into two movies?
Kevin Feige, Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer, was recently interviewed for the Happy Sad Confused podcast. In the podcast, Josh Horowitz asked Feige some burning questions. One of these questions was whether Avengers: Secret Wars would be split into two movies, to which he replied, “Not in this world.”
The Doomsday trailer sees Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom unleashing a new threat across three universes. This movie will see the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men teaming up to defeat the multiuniversal threat.
Secret Wars will serve as the climax of this movie. Many fans speculated that it’d be split into two given the events of the multiverse colliding. Fans took to X to express their thoughts on the confirmation, with many preferring a longer movie over two separate parts.
For instance, user @kingsmenofmanta stated, “Then I'm expecting the movie to be 6 hours long,” while user @FlthyCasualMMA added, “I hope it’s 4 hours at this point then. I feel like it would be rough to cram everything into a movie.”
Many expressed their concerns over one movie for the events of Secret Wars. For example, user @Unfamoustalent stated, “Massive mistake, no way they're able to do this kind of event justice with 1 movie and it not feel rushed and hollow.”
That said, some fans tried to break down his statement, claiming there could be an Avengers: Battleworld movie after Secret Wars. While Downey Jr. will play Doctor Doom, the previous Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four cast will reprise their respective roles in Doomsday. These include Chris Evans, Pedro Pascal, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Chris Hemsworth, Ian McKellen, and Patrick Stewart.
The movie will be released in theaters on December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars follows on December 17, 2027.
