Construction is well underway at the site that is near Interstate 26 and a host of commercial businesses in a West Columbia area.

A new branch of a well-known bank is headed to a busy corridor of West Columbia.

Bank of America, which has branches it refers to as “financial centers” across the nation, is building a new location at 2525 Augusta Road in West Columbia, according to multiple banners at the site. The bank will be at the corner of Augusta Road and Beverly Drive, right next door to a Prisma urgent care office.

One banner at the site notes that a Bank of America is “coming soon” to the location, while another says that Bank of America is “excited to be in the neighborhood.” An opening date for the financial center has not been publicly announced, but construction has been well underway at the site for some time, with continuing work going on when a reporter rode by earlier this week.

Bank of America, which has thousands of locations in the U.S., announced in 2025 that it planned to build 150 new financial centers across the country by 2027.

The new Augusta Road location will be along a busy road just east of Interstate 26 that is lined with a host of businesses. Nearby commercial offerings include Walmart, Waffle House, Hobby Lobby, Hardee’s, McAlister’s Deli and many others.

And it’s a high-traffic thoroughfare, with nearly 37,000 cars per day traveling down Augusta Road where the bank will be located, per SC Department of Transportation stats. About 80,000 cars per day travel down Interstate 26 nearby.
