There’s a new pizza spot on the way in Lexington County, not far from Lake Murray.
Pizza Inn, a chain that is known for its pizza buffet and dessert pizzas, is bringing a location to 2600 Highway 378 in Gilbert. That’s next door to a Mobil gas station at the corner of Highway 378 and Priceville Road. The pizza restaurant will be in a space that formerly was home to a Blimpie sub sandwich shop.
The Pizza Inn at 2600 Highway 378 is listed as a commercial project in the July agenda packet of the Lexington County Planning Commission. There is a sign - which features the grinning visage of Pizza Inn’s mascot JoJo - posted by the road in front of the location that notes restaurant is now hiring. The restaurant was not yet open when a reporter briefly went by on Monday afternoon, but prep work was ongoing inside the space to convert it to a Pizza Inn.
The pizza spot will be near Lake Murray. It’s about 2 miles east of SouthShore Marina.
There are Pizza Inn locations in 15 states, according to the company’s website. That includes nine locations currently spread across South Carolina.
Pizza Inn is known for its pizza buffet, and the menu includes a host of traditional and specialty pizzas, wings, salads and more. It also has a selection of dessert pizzas - known as Pizzerts - that is highlighted by a chocolate chip pizza.
