I guess a random truck bed is better than a hotel bathtub full of ice.

Comedian Nick Di Paolo has a funny joke about tossing and turning in a luxurious king bed atop the Four Seasons in New York City as the homeless guy on the sidewalk below is floating through his sixth REM cycle in 20-degree weather while sleeping on a broken Heineken bottle.

I thought of that bit when I heard about the guy who woke up in a random truck bed after UFC Oklahoma. If you’ve never owned a truck or don’t have any experience in the back of a truck bed (I was young, I needed the money), it’s kind of like being driven around in a sauté pan.

My sciatica is flaring up just thinking about it.

A fan at the UFC Oklahoma event last weekend in Oklahoma City climbed into the back of a random truck and either fell asleep or passed out drunk (no judgement) and somehow didn’t wake up until the truck owner (and his brother) reached Edmond, which is about 15 miles north of the venue.

News 9 has the transcript:

“Hey Andrew, you got a stray! You got someone in the bed of your truck,” Lance exclaimed.

“You didn’t want to knock on the window or nothing?” Andrew asked.

“No, I’m good,” the stranger replied.

“You’re all the way in Edmond, Oklahoma!” Lance joked.

“Thank you kindly,” the man replied.

“Not a problem, man,” said Andrew.

The tailgater (har har) had a friend come to pick him up.

I would really love to hear more about this story, like whether or not his friends were out looking for him (think of The Hangover).

“Hey, has anyone seen Jerry? He said he was going to take a piss like an hour ago.”
