The Pittsburgh Pirates are set to play in the series finale against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium with the first pitch scheduled for a Wednesday matinee contest.

Mitch Keller is back on the bump for the Pirates, making his first start since July 9. It’s been nearly two weeks since the Pirates have seen Keller, who is looking to bounce back from his abysmal performance against the Atlanta Braves. He only pitched three innings, giving up four hits and three earned runs in a 10-5 loss against the Braves.

The Yankees will have Garrett Cole on the mound, who is only making his third start against the Pirates in his career. Cole pitched for the Buccos after being the number one overall pick in the 2011 MLB draft from 2013 to 2017. He was traded ahead of the 2018 season to the Houston Astros, where he spent two seasons. Before signing with the Yankees, his home since 2020.

Cole pitched against the Pirates in 2019 as a member of the Astros and in 2023 with the Yankees. Now he is looking to get his first win since July 3 after losing his last two starts against the Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Dodgers.
