Tulsa Police arrested a man Sunday after officers said he refused repeated commands during a suspected DUI investigation near 15th Street and Lewis Avenue.
According to police, officers responded to a report of a man passed out behind the wheel of a truck. When they arrived, they contacted 42-year-old Jerrod McDonald, who was at least partially awake.
Instead, investigators said McDonald turned the music up louder, sang along and took a drink from a glass in the truck's center console. As more officers arrived, police said McDonald shifted the truck into drive but did not move.
Officers determined the safest option was to contain the truck by parking patrol vehicles in front of and behind it before attempting to remove McDonald.
Police said officers fired multiple pepper balls into the truck, but McDonald still refused to get out. Officers then opened the driver's door and pulled him from the truck.
Paramedics evaluated McDonald at the scene, but police said he refused additional treatment at a hospital.
Investigators said McDonald also refused the state's blood alcohol test.
McDonald was arrested on complaints of driving under the influence and obstruction.
