The Green Bay Packers looked like a Super Bowl contender for much of last season before they saw all of their hopes fall apart in a matter of weeks. One by one, the Packers lost most of their star players to injury before bowing out of the playoffs after blowing a big lead to the Chicago Bears in the Wild Card Round.
Now, the Packers are healthy and have high expectations once again heading into 2026. Players like Tucker Kraft and Micah Parsons are going to be back, giving Green Bay one of the best rosters in the NFC.
Even with that, the Packers’ success will come down to Jordan Love. The former first-round pick had an inconsistent season in 2025 that had a lot of highs and a lot of lows. However, Sports Illustrated’s Conor Orr shared some underlying numbers about Love’s 2025 season that suggest he could be in for a big year in 2026.

“He finished last season with the lowest bad-throw percentage of his career (in a full-season sample size),” Orr wrote. “His percentage of on-target throws was also a career high. He ranked third in down-to-down efficiency behind only Drake Maye and the EPA god, Brock Purdy. His completion percentage over expectation was better than Josh Allen’s. All of this is to say that Love is set up to start the season on a monster run, with the Packers likely to be favorites in their first four games.”
Maye and Allen are players that many would say are a tier or two above Love in the league’s quarterback hierarchy. However, the question with Love has never been about his talent. He has one of the biggest arms in the league and has gotten better year after year, even while being one of the most polarizing quarterbacks in the league.
The Packers have made an effort to keep Love’s best pass-catchers, such as Christian Watson and Jayden Reed, in Green Bay on new contract extensions. Kraft’s new deal likely isn’t far behind. With all of that settled, Love could be in for a big year in 2026.
