The Miami Heat grabbed attention on Tuesday after their official channel on YouTube appeared to have hinted at the signing of LeBron James.
It showed that the video of James’ “introductory press conference” was scheduled to premiere on July 27, causing many to wonder if the four-time MVP had already made his decision amid his much-ballyhooed free agency.
It quickly spread across social media, forcing the Heat to issue a clarification, as reported by the Miami Herald’s Anthony Chiang.

“It was a mistake by the Heat’s social media department while preparing for the possibility of LeBron picking the Heat. But there is no validity to it right now,” wrote Chiang on X.
Someone in Miami could be nervously scrolling on LinkedIn right now.
Of course, the 41-year-old James has a history with the Heat, leading them to back-to-back championships in 2012 and 2013. He, however, had an acrimonious exit in 2014, including a strained relationship with team president Pat Riley. They have reconciled in recent years.
Fans did not buy the Heat’s explanation for the supposed gaffe.
“It’s set for a specific date. This would be easy to believe if it didn’t have a date, but the fact that it has a date, it’s obvious he’s going to Miami,” said @ReplicaKnight.
“I’d buy this if it wasn’t set for a specific date,” echoed @RichStapless.
“The question is why would they put that date though?” asked @Wuzgood_JJ.
“So the social media guys just made up a set date for said press conference? LOL,” added @RevivedGamerHD.

Miami is among the considered frontrunners to land James, along with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Golden State Warriors, and the Philadelphia 76ers.
