The Los Angeles Angels could be in for some increased roster turnover with new general manager John Mozeliak at the helm.

The Los Angeles Angels are struggling in 2026 as their playoff hopes are fading by the day. In a weak American League, the Angels are the league’s worst team. They have the worst record in the AL and are 12 games back of the AL Wild Card ahead of the 2026 MLB trade deadline.

The Halos have made some changes, hiring former St. Louis Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak to run the franchise on an interim basis. This is inherently going to lead to some turnover as Mozeliak makes a case to run the team full-time. However, it appears as if the veteran executive could be a bit more aggressive in making changes than some may have anticipated.

“We’re likely to see a higher volume of trades from the Angels than we typically see… Expect action. This could even include Zach Neto, who’s an intriguing controllable player for multiple years. When you’ve got John Mozeliak coming in, a fresh set of eyes, he could make some bold moves,” MLB insider Jon Morosi said on MLB Network on Tuesday.

Neto’s trade candidacy has become more and more discussed in recent weeks. The former first-round pick in 2022 made his debut in 2023, and has become one of the brightest young stars in baseball. The Angels shortstop has hit 19 home runs and 46 runs batted in this season. Additionally, he is slashing .235/.325/.444.

Los Angeles could also put some of their bullpen arms up for sale. One candidate Morosi mentioned is Ryan Zeferjahn. Zeferjahn has pitched to a 3.91 ERA this year with 63 strikeouts in 40 innings pitched.

The Angels have some major decisions to make. One thing is for certain, though. Mozeliak is open to making some drastic moves this summer. And the Halos are a team that fans must closely monitor as the MLB trade deadline approaches.
