When the New England Patriots open their 2026 season, they’ll be expecting Harold Landry to be a key factor in their pass rush situation. But first, he’ll have to get healthy.
On Monday, the Patriots placed Landry on the physically unable to perform list, via Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Joining him was tight end CJ Dippre while running back Terrell Jennings was placed on the non-football injury list.
Landry battled through a knee injury to end his 2025 campaign. While he played in the Super Bowl, the pass rusher was ruled out of the AFC Championship Game. Clearly, Landry still needs more time to rehab his injury.

Since he was placed on the PUP prior to training camp, he can be removed at any time. New England will surely be paying close attention to Landry and his knee injury. Once he is fully ready to make his return, they’ll craft a plan to get him involved at camp.
In his first year with the Patriots, Landry put up 49 tackles, 19 quarterback hits and 8.5 sacks. He led the team in both quarterback hits and sacks, proving to be a strong addition in his reunion with head coach Mike Vrabel.
Throughout his NFL career, Landry has had no problem getting after the quarterback. His 8.5 sacks were actually his lowest total since 2021. He reached a peak of 21 in his Pro Bowl season, alongside a career-high 22 QB hits back in 2022.
The Patriots are now daydreaming about the damage Landry will do in 2026. But the first order of business is getting healthy and off the PUP list.
