The Defense Procurement Agency, or DOT, purchased the basic configuration 1-5 equipment for UAH 47 million.
In addition to standard body armor components, each set includes a cushioning and ventilation support insert designed to improve the fit, reduce pressure on the front of the body and provide additional airflow during use, the ministry said.
The body armor is made from ceramic composite materials, provides an enhanced level of protection and features Ukraine’s MM-14 camouflage pattern.
Its anatomical design allows the equipment to fit more securely, provide proper protection and reduce the risk of injury during combat missions without restricting movement, the ministry said.
“Providing female service members with specialized equipment has long been standard practice in the world’s leading militaries, and we are consistently introducing it in Ukraine,” Defense Procurement Agency Director Arsen Zhumadilov said.
The delivery is Ukraine’s first procurement of body armor designed for women, the ministry said.
Officials plan to gather feedback from service members to assess the equipment’s performance in combat conditions, identify potential improvements and incorporate the findings into future procurement plans.
