A sketchy Trump fundraising email, with the subject line, "Respectfully, I'm sorry,” tells recipients their "Trump Inner Circle" application "FAILED because of technical difficulties.” However, the email blast is using false transaction framing as the pretext of a pending application and subsequent technical difficulty that never really existed.

Imagine if a pizza chain, in order to gain new sales, were to send you an email stating your order had an error and didn’t go through and to please try again. That message might cause you to think someone took your payment card or maybe you have been hacked.

It’s a sketchy tactic for sure. Trump’s message then apologizes for the supposed error and declares, "Was this a technical error? Your application was denied!" before urging recipients to click a "TRY AGAIN HERE" button. It concludes by saying Trump is "expecting to see your name” on his “roster before the doors close at midnight tonight," creating the impression that recipients need to act quickly to restore or complete their “application.”

The "TRY AGAIN HERE" button takes recipients to a Trump campaign fundraising page, where they are asked to make a contribution. By presenting the problem as a failed application caused by technical difficulties while steering recipients to a donation form, the email uses a false pretense to sucker the MAGA base into giving Trump more money.
