Donald Trump Jr.’s past comments about the Trump administration have resurfaced, and it has come back to haunt him as the conflict in Iran intensifies once again.
With leaders of both countries failing to reach an agreement, the patience of the American people is running thin. As a result, critics have called out Don Trump Jr. for his 2024 post, which seems to have aged poorly.
Donald Trump Jr.’s 2024 Iran Tweet Resurfaces
According to the BBC, earlier this month Donald Trump declared that the temporary ceasefire agreement with Iran is “over.” Following the announcement, the United States has been carrying out missile strikes at different parts of the Middle Eastern country.
In retaliation, Iran has threatened to assassinate Trump by showcasing Trump in a casket in a billboard. However, these couldn’t be perceived as empty threats because Iran has been actively targeting U.S. assets in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan, and taking out an American vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, according to CBS News.
Consequently, two U.S. soldiers were killed over the weekend in an Iranian attack on an air base in Jordan. Meanwhile, another soldier is still missing in action.
Amid the tensions between the two countries, Donald Trump Jr.’s 2024 tweet has gone viral, in which he praised his father’s role during his first term as president. “Remember when they said Trump would get us into a full-blown war with Iran?” He wrote. “Times like these should make us all realize how lucky we were to have Trump, his strength and his resolve.”
According to CNN, in 2024, Trump had repeatedly promised that if he returned to the Oval Office to serve his second term, he would end the U.S.’ legacy of engaging in “endless” wars. He said, “With our victory in November, the years of war, weakness, and chaos will be over. I don’t have wars.”
Ironically, during NBC News’ Meet the Press interview, he denied his past comments about no more wars. He said, “First of all, I didn’t guarantee no war. Why would I have built the strongest military in the world?” He continued that he had rebuilt his army, which was left in a “terrible” condition by Joe Biden.
“When you say I promised, I didn’t promise anything,” Trump added. He claimed that he does not like “endless wars,” noting that the conflict in Iran will not be an “endless war.”
Don Jr. Gets a Reminder of His Old Tweet
Don Trump Jr.’s past comments caused outrage on social media, as many accused the family of being dishonest. The critics raked the two over the coals, as the community notes under the tweet read, “Trump got us into a war with Iran.”
A user tweeted, “Your dad can’t operate an umbrella, or stay out of a courtroom.” Another user asked, “You’re talking about the guy who incited an attack against… OUR own government? That guy?” A third user joked, “This aged well.”
“Actually, I don’t remember that, just that Iran would develop their nuclear capabilities faster because of Trump,” a user claimed. A user noted, “Psst, he leaked Israeli intelligence to Russia and pulled out of the Iran Deal. This has your weak daddy’s tiny fingerprints all over it.”
A user said, “I can’t believe this is still up. haha.” Another user wrote, “I thank the REAL God that Biden is my president. The entire Trump family is an embarrassment.” A user suggested, “You might wanna delete this post…”
