Tom Holland publicly referred to Zendaya as his wife for the first time during a podcast appearance.
The actor revealed that Zendaya threatened to leave him if he refused a role in Christopher Nolan's new movie.
The beloved Hollywood couple recently confirmed their marriage after keeping their wedding private for a long time.
Tom Holland casually called Zendaya his wife in a new interview, one month after confirming that they had gotten married. The actor mentioned it during his appearance on the British podcast "Dish", whose episode was released on Tuesday, July 21.
"My wife would be a good choice"
During a conversation with hosts DJ Nick Grimshaw and chef Angela Hartnett, the 30-year-old Holland answered a series of quick questions. When he was asked who he would most like to take on a vacation to Greece, the actor already had an answer.
"I think probably my wife would be pretty good," he replied. "It would be a bit strange if I went, 'Sorry babe, I'm gonna take Matt [Damon, Holland and Zendaya's Odyssey costar] actually."
"I'm just having 10 days in Mykonos with Matt Damon,"
Grimshaw joked in response: "I am just about to spend ten days in Mykonos with Matt Damon."
Zendaya's condition for Nolan's role
This was not the first time Holland mentioned Zendaya during the promotional tour for Christopher Nolan's new film "The Odyssey", which also stars Anne Hathaway and Robert Pattinson. In an interview with People, Holland explained how he reacted when Nolan offered him the role of Telemachus, the son of Odysseus, played by Damon, and Penelope, played by Hathaway.
"I sat down with Z and was like, 'I've been offered this movie,' " Holland said of his wife, whom he confirmed he had married in an interview last month.
"And she was like, 'By who?' And I was like, 'It's the big one.' And she was like, 'Chris?' I was like, 'Yeah, it's Chris Nolan.' "
Holland then revealed Zendaya's reaction.
"Z said, 'I'll leave you if you don't do The Odyssey.' " which had Nolan, Damon and Hathaway, 43, giggling as the director replied, "Well, thank you to her."
Love on screen and in real life
The Avengers star also joked about Zendaya's movie relationships during an interview with Wired on July 17. When one viewer asked whether Athena, played by Zendaya, had romantic feelings for Odysseus, portrayed by Damon, Holland gave a short and clear answer.
"No," the actor said, "because she is married to me."
His response made the 55-year-old Damon laugh, and he replied: "Yes. Good answer."
Later in the conversation, they were asked what Zendaya's Athena teaches Holland's Telemachus. Damon answered: "True love," and Holland agreed.
Wedding confirmed after rumors
Holland first confirmed that he and Zendaya were married in a June interview with Esquire. The admission came after the actress's longtime stylist Law Roach said in March that the wedding had already happened and that "everyone missed it."
The acting couple met during auditions for the 2017 film "Spider-Man: Homecoming", and their relationship was officially confirmed in July 2021.
This summer, both appear in two major films: "The Odyssey" was released in theaters on July 17, while "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" arrives on July 30.
