Orange cats have a reputation for being the wiliest cats around, and taking a look at this goofy sleeper, they're not beating the allegations.
Ember the Orange Kitty is a beautiful boy whose parents share lots of clips of his everyday adventures on YouTube. Sometimes, he's causing a ruckus. Other times, he's just lying about the house as kitties are wont to do — but it's the way he sleeps that makes everyone laugh.

"My cat's top 5 sleeping positions," the video caption reads, and what follows is an adorable, albeit chaotic, montage of Ember sleeping in stranger and more seemingly uncomfortable positions.

At the top of the list is "the rotisserie chicken," in which Ember is just laid out straight on the couch with his four legs tucked alongside his body. You can just imagine him getting all juicy.
Number two is the "dead fish," and Ember looks so funny all curled up in a big C shape, his front paws tucked up under his chin. A more advanced curl-up position comes next. "The crime scene" looks like Ember fell down after a fight and just never got back up. How is this comfortable?
Number four is "the suffocation," in which Ember's face is totally planted into the pillow, his body curled up around him. How does he breathe? We aren't sure, but it's working for him. Finally, "the peek-a-boo" might be the cutest of all, because Ember is once again covering his face but only with his paw and very gently. Now this is a sleeping position we can imagine curling into for hours on end.

How Do Cats Sleep in Such Contorted Positions?
The "crime scene" nap position might look uncomfortable to us, but cats are a lot more flexible than we are, and there are some benefits to those strange-looking sleeping positions.
Cat shoulder blades are attached to muscles inside their body rather than bones, like ours, which means they can move their legs into positions that look very strange to our eyes. This helps them when hunting, but it also lets them curl up or stretch out to cool off or warm up, depending on what they need while resting.
If your cat gets into a super twisty or splayed-out position while sleeping on the floor or couch, it’s a sign they're feeling particularly relaxed and resting deeply, which also means they trust you greatly and feel safe with you watching over them.
