The Hub, the open-air food and entertainment venue in Allen, closed its doors on July 20, 2026, after nearly four years in operation.
In a message posted on Facebook, the company said the decision was driven by economic challenges stemming from much slower-than-expected growth in the area, as well as the opening of several new restaurants nearby.
The concept opened in November 2022 as the first location of The Hub in Texas.
The company said in its statement that it invested more than $20 million between 2021 and 2022 to build the project within The Farm, a mixed-use development that was expected to include about 2,400 homes and 1.6 million square feet of office space.
But the company said that since opening, "very little residential or office growth has occurred" within the development, while 28 additional restaurants opened within a one-mile radius.
The Hub's executives said the venue remained among the top establishments in alcohol sales in Allen. But they said that performance was not enough.
"The total spend in the submarket is not adequate to support the current concept, causing the challenges we faced," the company wrote in its social media post.
The owners also said they invested millions of additional dollars over the past several years to keep the operation running, protect jobs and continue offering activities for the community.
The closure will affect nearly 100 employees, the company said, acknowledging that some of them "are upset about this."
"And we certainly are as well," the statement continued. "Any closing like this can be ‘abrupt' and disruptive."
The Hub hosted free family programming, concerts and community events, including events benefiting ManeGait, an organization that supports children and adults with disabilities; weekly meals for the Allen football team; and pet adoption events that, according to the company, helped nearly 400 dogs find homes.
Although the business has closed, the owners said the property will enter a new chapter, adding that a "fantastic group" will take over the site, though they did not provide further details.
The Hub was designed as a 35,000-square-foot venue with restaurants, bars and a live music stage surrounding a large artificial turf area intended for children and pets.
The complex was built in just eight months along State Highway 121 near Alma Road, and its developers envisioned it becoming the social centerpiece of The Farm development.
In its farewell message, the company thanked the community for its support and expressed gratitude to the more than half a million people who visited the venue.
