A possible cyber threat led to Dallas' main city and police department websites going offline Monday.
The city's digital security systems were alerted to a threat from outside its network and automatically took dallascityhall.com, dallas.gov and dallaspolice.net offline, according to city spokesman Rick Ericson on Tuesday.
"The threat did not result in a network intrusion or a loss of city data," he said.
The city's IT department was notified the sites were down at 9:55 a.m. Monday. An internal notice to city employees went out at 1:11 a.m. Tuesday saying service had been restored.
The outage didn't affect 911 or 311 phone and virtual services, Ericson said. Separate systems including DallasGo, the city's online bill-payment platform, and DallasNow, its online permitting portal, were still accessible.
The city's website provides information about city departments, elected officials, online services and other public resources. Dallaspolice.net is the Dallas Police Department's website. Dallas.gov redirects to dallascityhall.com.
