Abby Elliott, the actress best known to audiences for her role as Natalie in the acclaimed series "The Bear", has decided to end her nearly decade-long marriage to television producer and screenwriter Bill Kennedy.
The blonde actress, widely recognized by fans of the hit series "The Bear" as Natalie "Sugar" Berzatto, the older sister of Carmy (Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto), played by Jeremy Allen White, has decided to end her marriage to Kennedy.
According to TMZ, citing court documents, 39-year-old Abby Elliott filed for divorce on Friday. She listed July 8 as the date of separation and described the reason for the divorce as "irreconcilable differences."
In her divorce filing, Elliott requested joint legal and physical custody of their children, five-year-old Edith and three-year-old William, whom they welcomed during their marriage.
She also requested spousal support from Kennedy, while asking the court to deny him the same right. She additionally wants the producer to cover her legal fees.
Representatives for the actress have not commented on the divorce news so far.
Love story began on a movie set
Abby Elliott and Bill Kennedy met in 2014 while filming the movie "--- Ed", for which Kennedy was the screenwriter. Elliott starred in the film alongside Glen Powell, Haley Joel Osment and Lorenza Izzo, and their friendship soon turned into a romantic relationship. After a year and a half of dating, Kennedy proposed to her in October 2015.
"We had been together for about a year and a half. The proposal was a complete surprise," Elliott previously told The Knot.
She revealed that he proposed in their apartment, which was filled with flowers.
"It was beautiful. He got down on one knee, everything was very simple, but at the same time beautiful," the actress recalled.
The couple married in September 2016 in a church ceremony in New England. Their daughter Edith was born in October 2020, while their son William was born in June 2023.
Abby Elliott was also a cast member of the iconic comedy show "Saturday Night Live" from 2008 to 2012, and during her career she appeared in films such as "No Strings Attached", "Life Partners" and "Cheaper by the Dozen". In recent years, she gained major popularity for her role as Natalie Berzatto in the award-winning series "The Bear".
Bill Kennedy, meanwhile, built a career as a screenwriter and producer, working on successful television projects such as "House of Cards", "The Morning Show" and "Tell Me Lies".
