LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Officials have arrested a Sterling man after an attempted abduction and assault that was reported earlier this month.

On Wednesday, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) announced that 34-year-old Rolando Sanches Velasquez is facing charges of abduction and assault and battery for an incident that took place on July 15.

LCSO said that deputies responded to the area of Algonkian Parkway and Lowes Island Boulevard on that evening. Deputies learned that a woman had been walking on a walking trail when the suspect approached her and grabbed her. LCSO said that the woman “courageously fought off her attacker” and was able to call 911.
