Spider-Man: Brand New Day final trailer pays off Peter Parker's 9-year MCU story

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Final Trailer Pays Off Peter Parker's 9-Year MCU Story

Peter Parker's MCU journey culminates in the final Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer.

Peter Parker's 9-year MCU epic is recounted in the final trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. With just 10 days to go until its theatrical debut, the final Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer dropped on Tuesday and looks back on Peter Parker's entire story to date.

The new trailer begins with footage from Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, recalling how first Ned and then MJ learned that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, and had that knowledge stripped away from them. Now, in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Peter struggles with how to reintroduce himself into the lives of the friends who have forgotten him while maintaining his responsibilities as Spider-Man.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Releases Final Trailer

The retrospective final trailer feels appropriate since Spider-Man: Brand New Day brings a drastic change in the status quo for the MCU's Spider-Man. Previously, Spider-Man was hanging out with the Avengers and had the support of Ned and MJ, who knew his secret. Now he's more alone than ever, making Brand New Day likely a somewhat smaller story in terms of pure scale, but one that allows Marvel Studios to explore a side of Spider-Man it has avoided until now.

“We spent our first three MCU Spidey movies really focusing on the fact that he was in this shared universe, because there had been five Spidey movies that couldn’t explore that before." Marvel Studios head Feige said during a Spider-Man: Brand New Day event. "One of the things that makes this a brand new day is [that] this really focused on Peter in New York."

He continued: "We even avoided him swinging through the canyons of New York forever in those early movies because it had been done quite a bit. Right now, it has been 10 years since we have done it, so it's exciting again! There have been great things in the video games that have upped the level of action that [director Daniel Destin Cretton] has matched and surpassed.”

According to Spider-Man: Brand New Day's official synopsis, it's a Brand New Day for Peter Parker. Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him—and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him—sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control. But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves—a powerful villain no one can even see. The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, and Sadie Sink in a mystery role. Destin Daniel Cretton directed Spider-Man: Brand New Day from a screenplay written by Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers and Justin Kuritzkes.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day opens in theaters on July 31.
