Social media meet-up in Tri-State turns into armed robbery, 2 arrested

DEARBORN COUNTY, Ind. (WKRC) - A meeting set up on social media turned into an armed robbery with a man and a woman arrested in Dearborn County.

On Monday Sophia Swango, 20, arranged a meeting with the victim near a Lawrenceburg tattoo shop, according to Prosecutor Lynn Deddens.

As she got into the victim's vehicle, Draven Rogers, 22 is accused of jumping in the backseat and ordering the victim to drive to a nearby parking area between two tractor-trailers.

The victim was assaulted and robbed. Rogers also allegedly demanded the victim's cellphone.

After the suspects got out of the vehicle, the victim drove off and honked his horn to get help.

Rogers took off in a Kia, allegedly driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of US 50, nearly hitting police and other traffic, according to Deddens.

Rogers and Swango were eventually tracked down. The pair was apparently seen on surveillance video leaving the victim's vehicle.

Rogers faces robbery, kidnapping, criminal recklessness, resisting law enforcement, theft and battery. Swango is charged with robbery and theft.
