A couple of months ago, a woman discovered a sick, feral tomcat outside her door, begging for help. And although he knew he needed help, he was still reluctant to trust humans.
However, this woman recognized that this poor baby was in need. It didn’t matter that he was wild. He needed her help, and she was determined to give it to him.
According to this video, she was successfully able to trap this tomcat after he had been sleeping on her doormat for a few nights.
After catching him, this woman took him to the vet. Unfortunately, he tested positive for FIV and had to be treated for various infections. But at least he now had a home. The woman also named him Charles.
But just when this was starting to sound like a happy story, things took an unfortunate turn: Charles was recently diagnosed with cancer. Also, as far as cats go, he is no spring chicken either. He is nine years old!

But in spite of his age and diagnosis, now that Charles is living in a loving home, he is also discovering a more playful side of his personality. In this video, he can be seen playing through the living room door with his feline sibling, Dennis.
They take turns sticking their paws underneath the door, playing like a couple of curious kittens! However much time Charles might have left in this world, it’s good to know that at least he will spend it in a warm, loving home, playing with his newfound feline friend.
Why Feral Cats Sometimes Choose to Trust Humans
While it might seem unusual that a feral cat like Charles would trust humans at all, sometimes this can happen.
People have found that if they give off the right vibes, cats will actually be attracted to them. This is because cats are often attracted to people who can make them feel safe and comfortable.
Ironically, this often results in people who pay the least attention to cats getting the most attention from them. It comes down to laid-back people making cats feel comfortable, because they don’t perceive any threat from humans with such mellow energy.
Maybe that’s why Charles took such a strong liking to this woman and her home? But whatever the case may be, we hope that Charles will be one happy kitty for the remainder of his days!
