She lost everything: Now little Pearl just needs someone to choose her

Pearl is getting a fresh start, and Animal Rescue of New England, a foster-based rescue in Rhode Island with foster homes throughout New England, says this pearl-white pup will arrive in New England on August 1st and is now accepting adoption applications. According to Animal Rescue of New England, Pearl is about 7 years old, weighs 26 pounds, and is believed to be a Basset Doodle mix, a gentle, loyal companion-in-the-making who’s ready to trade a painful past for a home that feels safe.

Animal Rescue of New England shared that Pearl came into rescue in heartbreaking condition after her owner passed away, her small body hidden beneath heavy mats that took an “incredible groomer” nearly three hours to carefully remove. Beneath it all, the rescue says, was a beautiful dog who simply needed care, and a chance to shine. Now fully groomed, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm negative, Pearl is finally healthy and comfortable enough to begin again.

In their update, Animal Rescue of New England notes that Pearl is crate trained and doing well with potty training, though she’s still learning leash skills, so a securely fenced yard would be ideal. The rescue adds that Pearl enjoys dogs closer to her size and would prefer a home without large dogs, is curious about cats, and, since her history around children isn’t known, would do best with older, respectful kids or in an adult-only home.
