As part of the continued water main rehabilitation project, there will be a planned interruption of water service in part of District II Thursday.
The city of Laredo Utilities Department will install new 6-inch in-line valves with assistance from Murphy Pipeline Contractors.
The work is scheduled to run from 8 p.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Friday, if weather permits, near the intersection of Chestnut Street and South Texas Avenue. Weather could become a factor, as 0.39 inches of rain are projected by 1 p.m. Friday. There is a 51% chance of rain at 4 a.m.
The city advised that residents in the area can expect a temporary interruption to water service, along with traffic delays, construction noise and dust. It advised people to use alternate routes and avoid the area if possible.

The Utilities Department and Murphy Pipeline Contractors are also working on roadway improvements along Potomac Court from South New York Avenue to Columbia Drive.
The work, which began Tuesday and is expected to continue through the end of the month, includes asphalt paving, roadway repairs, milling, resurfacing and the installation of new striping and roadway markings. Drivers can expect temporary lane closures, traffic delays and possible detours.
