The Seattle Seahawks have made an injury decision regarding running back Zach Charbonnet, who was injured in last year's playoffs.

The Seattle Seahawks are currently gearing up for NFL training camp, which starts in the coming days. The Seahawks are coming off a 2026 Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots, although they have watched some talented players walk out the door in free agency this year.

Among them was Kenneth Walker III, who won Super Bowl MVP after stepping up in place of injured running back Zach Charbonnet, who went down with a torn ACL in the divisional round of the playoffs against the San Francisco 49ers. Recently, the Seahawks made a move regarding Charbonnet’s status ahead of training camp.

“The Seahawks announced they put RB Zach Charbonnet on PUP. That was expected as he’s coming off February ACL surgery,” reported Brady Henderson of ESPN on X, formerly Twitter.

Charbonnet has established himself as an elite running back over the years, and some had wondered whether his injury might affect the Seahawks’ Super Bowl chances last year. While the team still ended up getting the job done in dominant fashion against New England, the loss of Walker III to the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency will make Charbonnet’s healthy return a priority for Seattle this season.

Just because he’s been ruled physically unable to perform heading into training camp doesn’t necessarily mean he won’t be ready for the upcoming season, although fans hoping he will be ready to go for Week 1 probably shouldn’t hold their breath at this point, especially considering that the Seahawks will start their season earlier than any other team not named the New England Patriots this year.

The Patriots and Seahawks will get their Super Bowl rematch underway on September 9 from Seattle.
