Deadpool may not be hanging up his katanas anytime soon. Ryan Reynolds has finally given a positive update about Wade Wilson’s story, two years after ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ became one of Marvel Studios’ biggest box office hits.
He didn’t go into specifics, but his new remarks suggest that Marvel is already thinking ahead for the character’s next adventure.
Ryan Reynolds Hints Deadpool’s Next Adventure Will Break The Formula Again
Ryan Reynolds’ vision appears to be not based on a traditional solo sequel, though. The Merc with a Mouth, however, could be back in a project that takes Marvel’s mutant corner in a new direction. Speaking at Fanatics Fest 2026, Reynolds confirmed there is another Deadpool project in the works.

He added that there are still many comic book stories and lesser-known characters he wants to bring to the screen. “There are a few really deep cuts I think are missing from the movies. I think there’s a few deep cuts from some of the comics… There’s stuff upcoming. There eventually will be another Deadpool.”
He didn’t specify anything, but his remarks seem to be in line with his previous interviews where he said he wanted to do something a little different creatively. Instead of making Wade Wilson the star, Reynolds wants Deadpool as a sidekick to other heroes.
Marvel’s Expanding X-Men Universe Could Be The Perfect Fit
Various reports have been made in the past year that the next Deadpool film could feature a handful of X-Men characters. This means that it’s not another solo film, but rather a team-based film. If it’s the case, it might be a significant step towards bringing in more mutants into the MCU before Marvel’s X-Men movies are released.

Another thing that makes Deadpool one of the few characters that can connect the two worlds is his unpredictable personality. There are, of course, many questions yet to be answered. Marvel has not officially announced the project, and Reynolds has been careful not to reveal too much.
There’s also a rumour that Deadpool may be seen in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ before his next solo action movie. For now, fans can only hope. Marvel is definitely planning a lot more for one of its most popular characters with Reynolds’ latest update.
