Ryan Reynolds‘ is returning as Deadpool!
During a recent appearance at the Fanatics Fest 2026, the actor, 48, confirmed that another Deadpool movie would be coming to screens following the success of 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.
“There’s a few really deep cuts that I think are missing from the movies,” Reynolds said in a video shared on X on Sunday, July 19. “I think there’s a few deep cuts missing from some of the comics.”
“There’s certainly some stuff that I love that [co-creator of Deadpool] Fabian [Nicieza] wrote that is incredible,” he continued. “Gerry Duggan, who was a friend, was an incredible comic writer.”
Reynolds added, “There’s stuff upcoming. There’s eventually, you know, remotely another Deadpool film. It’s going to be great.”
The news comes after Reynolds said on Today’s Sunday Sitdown Live in April that he had begun writing the next Deadpool movie.

“I have some stuff kind of written,” he said before adding, “I don’t think I’m going to center him again. I think he’s a supporting character, you know?”
The Wrexham soccer club co-owner said at the time that Deadpool was “a guy that’s great in a group.”
The last Deadpool movie, Deadpool & Wolverine, saw Reynolds costar alongside Hugh Jackman.
The hit, which became the highest-grossing R-rated film ever at the box office, brought Deadpool into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time, following the initial movie in 2016 and its 2018 sequel.
Despite Reynolds insisting that Deadpool works better in a group, he told The Hollywood Reporter in 2024 that he didn’t think the character should become a member of the X-Men or the Avengers, who are also part of the MCU.
“He always needs to stay an outsider,” he said at the time. “His coping mechanism of deflecting shame through humor works only when used to pave over his many inadequacies. If and when he does become an Avenger or X-Man, we’re at the end of his journey.”
While Reynolds’ last feature-length film was Deadpool & Wolverine, his upcoming projects include Mayday, which will be released on Apple TV in September. Animal Friends is also scheduled to be in theaters in January 2027.
