More than three decades back, Paul Rudd was a student and aspiring actor who needed something substantial on his resumé. As any manager would, the one hired by Rudd went a little overboard.
He ended up adding something the Marvel superstar had never actually done, and it involved the legendary Oscar winner Sir Ben Kingsley. Years later, when Rudd finally got to share the screen with the legend, he was secretly praying Kingsley had never checked his CV, which hid one hilarious lie.
The Ben Kingsley Lie That Scared Paul Rudd For Years
Before starring in blockbuster comedies and becoming a Marvel superhero, Paul Rudd was a struggling student at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. In the late 1980s, while at acting school, he attended a single acting workshop led by Kingsley.

With no professional achievements, Rudd’s representative created his first resume that didn’t have enough substance. And that’s when he turned to his client’s afternoon seminar, labeling it as a fancy theatrical achievement in Rudd’s resumé.
He presented Rudd’s role as the main part in an outstanding play produced by Kingsley. “My manager put this down as, ‘Paul played Hamlet in a production directed by Sir Ben Kingsley’. I lived in fear that he would one day see my CV!” the actor admitted in one of the interviews.
Luckily for Rudd, the ‘Gandhi’ actor never discovered this fabrication. Years later, both the performers eventually found themselves in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Meanwhile, the actor didn’t have to rely on the pumped-up résumé for long, as he soon landed a big part.
Rudd’s Tranistion From Comedy Actor To Global Star
Paul Rudd got his breakthrough role in 1995 when he appeared as Josh Lucas, a love interest of Cher Horowitz, in the sleeper hit ‘Clueless.’ The movie was a big commercial and critical success, earning $88 million on a $12 million budget.

This performance marked the beginning of his successful career, which exploded in 2002 with his appearance on the TV show ‘Friends‘ as Mike Hannigan. In the years to come, the young actor starred in several huge box-office comedies,
These included ‘Anchorman,’ ‘The 40-Year-Old Virgin,’ and ‘Knocked Up.’ A decade later, he became a superhero of the Marvel Universe in Ant-Man, a role that drastically changed his career. It transformed him from a cult-classic comedic actor into a global star.
Most recently, Rudd is gearing up to star in the upcoming Marvel project, ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’ He’ll appear with his fellow co-stars in another massive ensemble film. Interestingly, Sir Ben Kingsley has also been part of the MCU as Trevor Slattery, appearing in several movies and TV shows.
