Hours after the Wednesday morning crash, the driver was in critical condition, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

A motorcycle driver was in critical condition Wednesday after hitting a curb in Kansas City’s Northland and being thrown from their bike, police said.

The crash occurred about 3:40 a.m. Wednesday at N. Chouteau Parkway and NE 34th Terrace, according to an incident report provided by Sgt. Phil DiMartino, spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department.

A person was riding a homemade motorcycle without a helmet, going north on N. Chouteau Parkway, according to the report.

The driver hit the east curb, throwing them off the motorcycle, police shared.

The motorcyclist was brought to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, and was in critical condition later Wednesday morning, officers noted.

Police were investigating the crash, according to DiMartino.
