Pat McAfee is entering a new chapter of his career with the announcement of his debut album, "The Diary of a Polarizing Figure," but the reveal has already sparked a divided reaction online.

The former WWE personality announced that the album will be released on August 14, 2026, explaining that the project will address the criticism and public narratives surrounding him throughout his career.

"For as long as I can remember my mere existence has made people hate my guts," McAfee wrote. "I've been writing songs about it for 20yrs & it's time to let them aht."

McAfee added that he wants the project to serve as a personal record for his family.

"A LOT of headlines & narratives.. if I was to die, I'd like my kids to know exactly who their dad is."

Fans React To Pat McAfee’s Album Announcement

The announcement quickly generated mixed reactions on social media. While some fans supported McAfee's creative ambitions and praised his willingness to share a personal side of himself, others criticized the decision and questioned whether he should pursue a music career. The album's AI-generated cover art also became a major talking point among fans.

One supporter encouraged McAfee to ignore criticism and continue creating, writing, “Dont fret Pat. Real haters exist but they tend to block ones entire existence from happening. I make up raps off the top 1 take only unless noted and have spit over 1000 raps another thousand written. I dont care who listens either it is rough drafts on YouTube mostly censored.”

Another argued that his music does not offer anything unique compared to everyday performers.

“The problem is, you don't offer anything different than I can get from the drunk sitting next to me on the bar stool as we watch NFL games on the telly. The remarkable thing is that you've found a way to monetize that.”

Other reactions focused on McAfee's public image, with some fans questioning his repeated references to being disliked despite his success and personal life.

“The whole positivity preaching yet constantly being obsessed with this idea everyone hates you and revolving your whole personality around it is definitely an interesting move for someone who's uber rich and has a family and good life lmao”

Pat McAfee Left WWE In 2026

McAfee's latest venture comes after a lengthy run in WWE that saw him become one of the company's most recognizable crossover personalities. He initially joined WWE as a pre-show analyst before transitioning into an in-ring role, including his memorable feud with Adam Cole on NXT.

In 2021, McAfee became a color commentator for SmackDown, a position he held through 2026 while continuing to make occasional appearances as a wrestler. His biggest WWE moments included matches against Vince McMahon, Baron Corbin, and other top stars, along with his role as a commentator during major events.

McAfee also became involved in the road to WrestleMania 42 after aligning himself with Randy Orton. However, the storyline received backlash from some fans, particularly after McAfee's involvement in Orton's rivalry with Cody Rhodes.

Ahead of WrestleMania 42 Saturday, McAfee promised that he would leave WWE if Orton failed to defeat Rhodes. During the match, Orton turned against McAfee and delivered an RKO, before Rhodes went on to secure the victory.

Following the match, McAfee announced on the April 20 episode of The Pat McAfee Show that he had retired from WWE.
