The dream match between The Young Bucks and The New Day could soon become a reality as Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods now prepare for free agency. Like fans, The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) have been clamoring for the high-profile tag team faceoff for years. That’s why it comes as no surprise to learn that they’re especially thrilled to see where the former WWE Tag Team Champions land next following their WWE departures.
"I love seeing all of the buzz and excitement about possible future dream matches," Matt Jackson told Justin Barrasso of Undisputed. "We've obviously got nothing but respect and admiration for those guys, and it would be an honor if we ever had the chance to share a ring with them. Again, here's a match we all but crossed off as a possibility, but here we are in 2026 and it could be at play. That's the stuff that keeps me pumped up and motivated to keep doing this at the level we've been doing it all these years."
The Young Bucks vs. Copeland and Cage?
Another dream match possibility lies in The Young Bucks vs. Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, the latter of whom currently reign as the AEW World Tag Team Champions.
"I think it's one of the few, final big money tag matches that are currently left and on the table," said Matt. "For years, we obviously counted this one out as a possibility, but now here we are–and the match is possibly at play? It still doesn't feel real. My mind is already racing at the thought, and ideas are already in my notepad. But I won't believe it until I see it."
Seeds for a Young Bucks-Cage/Cope bout have been heavily planted in recent months, with the two teams crossing paths on AEW programming on multiple occasions. Copeland and Cage dethroned FTR as the AEW Tag Team Champions at AEW Double or Nothing. Matt and Nick Jackson have held the titles three times before.
