The hit Nickelodeon live-action superhero show, The Thundermans, is soaring back with a new release.
Originally premiering on Nickelodeon in October 2013, the family sitcom, The Thundermans ran until 2018. It featured four seasons and 98 episodes, and it ranked as one of Nickelodeon's most popular series for kids. The Thundermans is about a family with superpowers trying to live a normal life, and it won Favorite TV Show at the 2016 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award. The show has featured several spin-offs, adding to the "Thunderverse," such as The Thundermans Return (2024), The Thundermans: Undercover (2025), and now, the upcoming sequel movie, Clash of the Thundermans (2026), is set to premiere later this year.

Paramount+ has revealed that the latest installment of The Thunderverse will premiere Thursday, September 3 on Paramount+ and debut on Nickelodeon at 7 p.m. (ET/PT) that same day. This latest installment is the sequel to The Thundermans Return. Many of The Thundermans characters are back, and the poster highlights the Thunderman family being split down the middle. Kira Kosarin (Phoebe), Jack Griffo (Max), Maya Le Clark (Chloe), Chris Tallman (Hank), Diego Velazquez (Billy), and Addison Riecke (Nora) are all featured.
With The Thundermans season 4 completed, and the previous movie ending with the city being saved, the final scene showed that Dr. Colosso could be secretly plotting. In the new film, Chloe develops destructive new powers, and the Hero League demands that the family sends her to a superhero boarding school to learn how to control her powers. This divides the Thundermans, as half of the family wants to hand her over for her own safety, and half want to ignore the orders.
Clash of the Thundermans is written by Jed Spingarn, Sean W. Cunningham, and Marc Dworkin, and is produced by Paramount Television Studios. The resurgence of this nostalgic show is eyeing some exciting streaming power after the 2024 reunion movie recorded strong ratings and became a streaming hit. Because the franchise's last entry performed so well, it suggests that there may an even greater staying power with The Thundermans franchise moving forward.
Following the premiere of The Clash of the Thundermans in September, it's still unclear whether the superhero family will return for another film in the future. Meanwhile, the franchise is also awaiting an answer on the fate of its latest spinoff series, with The Thundermans: Undercover season 3 still having yet to receive a renewal by Paramount+ after season 2 concluded in December 2025. However, an update on the franchise's future is expected to arrive after assessing the performance of The Thundermans' new movie on streaming.
