Even after a sudden departure, the Carolina Panthers' quarterback room will likely remain as is.
One week ago, 31-year-old veteran Will Grier announced his retirement from the NFL. His decision left the Panthers with three quarterbacks ahead of training camp—starter Bryce Young, backup Kenny Pickett and undrafted free-agent signee Haynes King.
President of football operations and general manager Dan Morgan, during his chat with reporters on Wednesday, was asked if the team plans on replenishing the position by adding back a fourth passer.
"No plans right now to bring a fourth guy on," Morgan replied. "Obviously, wish Will and his family the best. In terms of his career, just playing as long as he did, and just wish him the best moving forward."
Grier cracked into the league as a third-round selection of the Panthers back in 2019. He went on to pick up six additional stints with five other teams before returning to Carolina on a one-year pact this offseason.
The Panthers used four quarterbacks last summer. In addition to Young, Carolina fielded Andy Dalton, Jack Plummer and Bryce Perkins during preseason play in 2025.
