Steelers may have found new trade partner after Seahawks injury update

Another potential trade partner has emerged for Pittsburgh Steelers running back Kaleb Johnson following a massive Seattle Seahawks injury update.

On Wednesday, the Seahawks placed running back Zach Charbonnet (knee) on the physically unable to perform list, which could open the door for a Johnson trade.

Charbonnet tore his ACL in January 2026 during the Seahawks' divisional-round playoff matchup, and a typical recovery timeline could see him return mid- to late season.

Heading into 2026, the Seahawks' running back depth is heavily tested, as there isn't really a quality backup behind rookie first-rounder Jadarian Price. Seattle still has all the offensive pieces to stay competitive, however, and Pittsburgh would be wise to at least call the Seahawks about any interest in Johnson.

Johnson is coming off a disappointing rookie season with the Steelers and is facing stiff competition from Eli Heidenreich and Travis Homer, who offer more versatility on both offense and special teams. Before he gets a chance to tank his trade value even further, the Steelers need to pull the trigger.
