Once viewed as the future of Auburn football’s offense, quarterback Deuce Knight transferred to Ole Miss during the offseason after the hiring of Alex Golesh.
At the time of Knight’s transfer, starting quarterback Trinidad Chambliss was in an eligibility battle with the NCAA for one more year with the Rebels.
With Chambliss finally cleared and set to start this fall for the Ole Miss, Knight will have to sit behind another quarterback for a second straight season.
On Wednesday, Chambliss talked about having Knight in the quarterback room and the future impact he has on the offense.
“Having Deuce to our quarterback room is sweet,” Chambliss said. “Just another mind to bounce off of when watching film and in practice. He loves to learn as well too. He loves to talk football and he’s going to be a great player.”
Knight played in just two games this season, but impressed in his lone start, a 62-17 win over Mercer. In that game, Knight threw for 239 yards and two touchdowns on 15-for-20 passing, while rushing for 162 yards and four touchdowns on just nine carries.
He will still have four years of eligibility remaining, as he maintained his redshirt in 2025.
