TAMPA, Fla. — Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer shared a promising update on injured wide receiver Noah Rogers at SEC Media Days on Wednesday. Speaking with Ryan Fowler of Tide 100.9 FM, DeBoer was asked if Rogers was ahead of schedule in his road to recovery.
“Yeah, he’s doing a great job,” DeBoer told Fowler. “I think early on, when he first was injured, probably a timeline that he’s surpassed. I would expect him to still miss some games early in the season. I’m not going to set limits on what he can do as far as how quickly he can come back. We want to be smart.
“But he has done a phenomenal job, along with our elite training staff and medical staff, to execute the plan that was put in place. He’s coming along very nicely, I guess I’ll just put it that way.”
Rogers suffered a knee injury during the Crimson Tide’s A-Day scrimmage. After needing help off the field and into the sideline medical tent, Rogers was carted to the Alabama locker room with a brace on his left knee. Shortly after the spring season ended, DeBoer told Tide 100.9 that Rogers’ injury would “bleed into” the start of the Crimson Tide’s 2026 football schedule.
A transfer from NC State, Rogers played in every game last year and started 12, finishing the 2025 season as the Wolfpack’s third-leading receiver with 441 yards and two touchdowns on 33 receptions. This spring, he was consistently one of the first wide receivers on the field, along with Ryan Coleman-Williams and Lotzeir Brooks, and was expected to play a key role.
Alabama will return to the practice field in early August. The Crimson Tide’s 2026 season opener is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, at home against East Carolina (11 a.m. CT on ABC).
