Nearly 1,000 homes are coming to this Central Texas city

Another sprawling residential development is headed to a fast-growing Central Texas city.

Starling, a 900 single-family detached home community on roughly 230 acres, is under construction at the intersection of Bell Gin Road and Rockride Lane near Round Rock. Expected to open in 2027, the neighborhood will offer homes ranging from entry-level to luxury.

"Starling allows us to continue serving the Round Rock area with a thoughtfully planned community," Austin Division President Adib Khoury told the Austin Business Journal. "We believe demand remains strong, and Starling is well positioned to meet it." 

Risewell Homes acknowledged Chron's request for comment but had not responded by the time of publication.

The community will include 1,700- to 3,600-square-foot homes with three to five bedrooms and two to four bathrooms, according to the Risewell Homes website. Developers are offering four homesite sizes between 45 and 70 feet with additional plans for an amenity center. 

Risewell Homes highlights Starling's "prime location near major tech hubs." The development comes as Round Rock ranks among Texas' fastest-growing cities. 

What other developments are underway nearby?

Several other developments are taking shape or planned in the surrounding area.

Avery Centre, another RiseWell Homes development, is a 1,200-acre mixed-use community listed as a "final opportunity" on the developer's website. Its three-bedroom homes range from 1,871 to 1,890 square feet and start in the mid-$300,000s. Other residential developments nearby include Patterson Ranch and Melina.

Southwestern University is also planning a 560-acre mixed-use development in the area. Its first phase will include 110,000 square feet of office and research space, 45,000 square feet of retail, 150 multifamily homes, a 110,000-square-foot hotel and conference center, a 38,000-square-foot entertainment venue and 35 acres of parks and open space, according to a June news release. Construction is expected to begin in September.
