'Space City has Uranus covered': Houston Dynamo goes all-in on unique sponsor deal

The club's new sponsor promises to have the club's back-literally.

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup gasping its last breath Sunday, Major League Soccer's advertising push following the global spectacle has been a simple seven-word statement: Thanks, world, we'll take it from here.

The trickle-down effect of America's gaze shifting from international superpowers to local soccer teams includes brands looking to make their own splash. Enter the Houston Dynamo and DUDE Wipes. On Wednesday, the club and the men's hygiene wet wipe brand managed by DUDE Products announced a new sponsorship that would add a "DUDE Wipes" logo to the bottom of the back of the jerseys.

According to a statement from the club received by Chron, the agreement expands beyond the jersey to include community programming, matchday activations, digital content and fan engagement initiatives across Houston, including the partnership's tagline, "Space City has Uranus covered."

"DUDE Wipes is exactly the kind of partner we love working with: a brand that's unapologetically authentic, knows how to make people laugh, and has built an incredibly loyal community by staying true to its personality," said Nico Zini, Chief Revenue Officer of Houston Dynamo FC. "Together, we'll bring that same energy to our fans through creative activations, meaningful community initiatives and unforgettable matchday experiences. And as our Back of Jersey partner, it's only fitting that DUDE Wipes literally has our backs."

Dude Wipes is well-known for its unconventional marketing campaigns, having paid athletes to wear its logo on the back of their shorts for over a decade. In 2014, the brand trended worldwide on social media after former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley wore its logo on his trunks in the co-main event of UFC 174. Woodley would again wear the brand on his shorts in his 2021 fight against Jake Paul.

DUDE Products also sponsored UFC fighter Justine Kish after she pooped herself inside the Octagon in 2017, while in a chokehold from Felice Herrig at UFC Fight Night 112 in Oklahoma City.

"We've always believed that if you're going to have someone's back, you should actually have their back," said Ryan Meegan, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Dude of DUDE Products. "Houston Dynamo FC is building something exciting on and off the field, and we're proud to become part of that journey. From the jerseys to Cascarita and everything in between, we're looking forward to bringing a little personality while supporting a club and city that lives and breathes soccer."

The Dynamo will reveal their new look on the road against Sporting Kansas City on August 1, featuring the logo on all first-team jerseys. Houston has now become the fourth MLS club to have a back-of-jersey sponsor for the 2026 season.

The Dynamo are currently seventh in the Western Conference standings and are on the edge of the postseason. Whether DUDE Wipes helps Houston climb the table remains to be seen, but the Dynamo have officially covered their backsides.
