NBA rumors: Insider shuts down Lakers-Mavericks trade ideas despite Luka Doncic ties appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Los Angeles Lakers probably have made the most moves out of any team in free agency, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they weren’t done. They are still being tied to Jonathan Kuminga; if the price is right, it looks like they could be his top suitor. In the event that doesn’t happen, fans have their eyes on two players from the Dallas Mavericks.
PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford are two players fans are asking for, and they also have ties with Luka Doncic while he was with the Mavericks. Unfortunately for the fans, it doesn’t seem as if the Lakers have shown any interest in those two, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer.
“I know Lakers fans want to keep drawing the line to a trade with Dallas for either PJ Washington or Daniel Gafford because of their success with Luka Doncic. I really don’t have any inclination that the Lakers had trade talks with either of those guys of real consequence this offseason. They still do have interest in Jonathan Kuminga,” Fischer said on Bleacher Report.

The Mavericks haven’t been in many trade rumors this offseason, but there could come a time when they look to move off some of their players. With the Mavericks turning the page on a new era, players like Washington and Gafford may not fit what the team is looking for in their future plans.
As for the Lakers, they may still be looking for a starting-caliber power forward, and Washington fits the bill. As far as their center depth, a player like Gafford could make an impact coming off the bench.
The way Lakers and Mavericks trades have gone in the past, they may not even want to deal with each other, but the Mavericks have a new front office, so things can change.
