Matt Damon sings the praises of his female stunt double (who helped his arms look even better)

The Oscar winner said his double in The Odyssey had “the greatest arms I’ve ever seen” after being praised for his own “bicep work”.

Matt Damon has admitted he can’t take sole credit for how buff his character looks in his new movie The Odyssey.

The Oscar winner recently paid a visit to the podcast Happy Sad Confused to talk about his work in the Christopher Nolan epic, where host Josh Horowitz told him: “I’m not one to objectify, but this is the greatest bicep work I’ve seen outside of a Hemsworth film.”

“All the credits, it should have said ‘with Zendaya… and Matt Damon’s biceps’, it needs its own title card, it feels like,” he added, to which Matt enthused: “That’s very high praise. I’ll tell Chris.”

However, while he shared that it was “almost a hundred percent my arms in the movie”, he added that he had to give credit “where it’s due” to his stunt double in one key scene.

Matt explained that in the scene where Odysseus and his crew are confronted with the Laistrygonians, a team of man-eating giants, this effect was achieved by using a mix of stunt performers who were over seven feet, and under five feet, tall.

He noted: “My double was a woman, a female stunt performer, who had the greatest arms I’ve ever seen.

“And when she came into the catering tent, it was the first time I’d met her, and I went up and I hugged her, and thanked her for all the work she’d put in. And so, [in] those shots in the movie where you see these giants looming over me… it was [her].”

Once footage of the interview went up on Instagram, the performer in question, Devyn Dalton, quickly popped up in the comments, writing that it had been an “honour” to “double” for Matt in the critically-acclaimed film.

While promoting The Odyssey, Matt has made no secret of the physical toll that the gruelling shoot took on him – or how difficult it had been to “get jacked” for the role of Odysseus now he’s in his 50s.

The Odyssey is in cinemas now.
