Whoopi Goldberg just took The Odyssey star Anne Hathaway on an epic emotional roller coaster on The View.

During a Monday morning interview on the long-running talk show about the record-breaking blockbuster, Hathaway, Matt Damon, and director Christopher Nolan reflected on making the box office hit, while Goldberg zeroed in on the actress’ work in a poignant way that made Hathaway cry in the moment.

“Anne Hathaway, it’s been wonderful watching you,” the 70-year-old EGOT winner told Hathaway, who, on top of leading The Devil Wears Prada 2 to strong box office numbers in May, also recently announced that she’s pregnant with her third child.

Goldberg continued, “It’s been wonderful watching you grow up. And you have just blossomed, turned into this fabulous actress.”

Hathaway exclaimed, “No, don’t!” as Goldberg spoke, while clasping her hands over her face while the Ghost and The Color Purple star praised her.

“Girl! Yes! Yes! You need to know. You need to know,” Goldberg repeated, while Hathaway lowered her head toward the show’s Hot Topics table and cried.

“I’d be crying [even] if I wasn’t pregnant right now!” Hathaway joked in the moment, while Goldberg said once again that “it’s something you need to know and remember.”

Before Hathaway added praise for Damon as well, Hathaway voiced appreciation for Goldberg’s sentiment, telling her, “I don’t even know what to say, you know how I feel about you” while tears welled in her eyes.

Hathaway, 43, additionally cried on a recent episode of the Today show, on which she appeared to promote The Odyssey and was greeted by host Craig Melvin with a surprise gift for her upcoming baby.

“We wanted to celebrate you and celebrate your bun there in the oven, so we got you a baby gift,” Melvin said before revealing the Odyssey-inspired present: “When the child comes out, we want the child ready for battle.... It is a Trojan outfit, custom-designed for the baby.”

In addition to the aforementioned Devil Wears Prada 2 and The Odyssey, Hathaway’s stacked year also included a critically lauded performance in the dramatic thriller Mother Mary, while her epic output in 2026 will continue with the release of two more high-profile films with the J.J. Abrams-produced action flick The End of Oak Street and the big-screen adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Verity both set to hit theaters before the year’s end.

The Odyssey is now playing in theaters.
