A man was arrested on human smuggling charges after troopers encountered a vehicle carrying four undocumented immigrants, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The incident occurred at about 10 a.m. July 17 in the 4200 block of the Interstate 35 service road.
The driver was identified as 31-year-old Raul DeLuna of Laredo, who was driving a black 2010 Dodge Avenger, DPS said.
The four undocumented immigrants, who were from Honduras and Mexico, told troopers they each paid between $7,000 and $12,000 to be smuggled into the United States. The payments included transportation to a stash house and travel to other cities in the country, according to DPS.
Jail records show DeLuna was booked into Webb County Jail on four counts of smuggling of persons. He was released July 19 after posting four $10,000 bonds.
